My child care provider who is just amazing with my son is expecting her third child within the next month and I was just thinking of what to get her. It is harder getting a baby gift for a no-longer new mom.

By the time you have a second child, you have a full grasp of what products work for you. You know what diaper brands you prefer or what formula brands you prefer. I am including breast milk and cloth diapers as brands for lack of a better word. By baby two or three, you probably accumulated some home-grown hand-me downs particularly if your kids are of the same gender. Between my two kids, I have 3-4 diaper bags already!

Diapers, wipes and bibs will serve you well as default gifts for an experienced mom. Clothes make good baby shower gifts if you know the gender of the baby. Otherwise stick with onesies and gender neutral one-pieces and stay away from blue and pink.

Giving the gift of children’s books and educational toys is bound to be well appreciated and make your gift memorable. Few people think of giving children books as baby shower gifts. I did not receive kids’ books for my baby showers and only started gifting books for baby showers this year. You will get a thrill inside when you contribute to a little one’s budding library in this age of video games and electronic toys. Bath books, cloth books or board books are ideal for babies due to the durability factor.

Toys are always desirable gifts as well as scrap books and keepsakes. No one will refuse the greenback. With an extra mouth to feed, the money is sure to come in handy.

So back to my wonderful child-minder, I will probably get a gift bundle of some delightful books for babies like Goodnight Moon, Pat the Bunny and Snuggle Puppy or make someone else’s day by patronizing another small business online to buy my baby shower gift.
