Hats Off to GrandParents
I was a teenager once. Oh what glory days! I was literally counting days till I turned eighteen when I would be free. So I thought.
I spoke a different language from my parents, it was English alright but they just did not get it! It was not like I wanted to get piercings, tattoos or sleep around, by most account I was a good kid but they wanted me on a short leech nonetheless. My refuge for the tumultuous time was my relationship with my grandma. She got it, or at least accepted my weird teenager’s world view and showered me with love. She was the person I unburdened to when I could not talk to my parents.
Grandparents are so vital to the all round development of a child. They have been there, done that. They have years of wisdom and have the patience that parents can’t match. When they have cash to spare, they even shower it on their grandkids.
My hat off to all grandparents and what they do so well. September 11, 2011 is September 11th and it is also Grandparents’ Day.
Happy Grandparents Day!
